Submit Articles

The following guidelines are what we apply to all items submitted by our members for publishing in Call-A.P.P.L.E.

Submission of articles

Call-A.P.P.L.E. is always looking for new and interesting articles.  If you are a writer or a techie and would like to submit an article for publishing in the magazine, then you should take a look at the following items and make sure that your article is within the guidelines set within.

Subject Matter

The subject content of the article should be related to Apple or Linux/Unix operating systems and should be either technical or editorial.  All technical articles should be accompanied by any source code, documentation or other items of information that the user will need in order to understand or perform the task described in the article.

Reviews of software and books related to the Apple or Unix / Linux fields are also welcome.  When performing such reviews, please be sure to include all photographs, references and other relevant materials.

If your article is of editorial or comment type content, then it should be accurate, include sources and links to materials specified as sources.  It should also refrain from slandering or using language that is unbecoming of the professional appearance of the article.  While we do allow for articles that use tough language, we exclusively reserve the right to edit, change, or not use any article submitted to us.

Article Formatting

All articles should be submitted in either pure text format or in Rich Text  format.  This is to allow for the easiest conversions by our staff.  While we welcome PDF format articles for standalone items, we must have the text format or the Rich Text format in order to edit and size the article for the magazine. While nifty fonts are always fun to use, they make our job a bit more difficult.

Preformatting of the article does not mean that the article is excluded from editing.  It only allows us to see approximately how many pages and columns your article will take.

For those who are submitting programs for publication, all source code must be included in a text file.   If you are only submitting the program for review, please follow the format in the submission system specification.

The fonts used in the amagazine are Eras Bold Itc for the headings and Verdana 12 point for all articles content.  If you preformat your submissions in Rich Text Format in this manner, then the process for us is much more pure copy and paste into InDesign.

All programs that are submitted for inclusion in the A.P.P.L.E. online library will be subject to the following rules.  The programs must be original works of the author or the person submitting the program.  It must be distribution restriction free as it will be included in the Digisoft Golden Grail DVD which is based on libraries maintained at A.P.P.L.E.
