Ample 0.264 Released

Kelvin Sherlock, creator of the Ample GraphicalUser Interface for the MAME emulator, has released a new version of the interface.  Release 56 of Ample brings the interface in line with the 0.264 release of MAME and includes a host of fixes and changes including the following:

Ample Changes

  • Added some ORIC and TRS COCO machines.
    • ORIC used 3″ floppies but we pretend they’re 3.5″ in the UI
    • added 4x window option since ORIC needs it.
  • Fixed a bug that was preventing 3.5″ disks from working on Macintosh
  • double-clicking on a rom in the rom window will start the download

MAME 0.264 Changes of note

  • Apple IIgs joystick fixed
  • Apple IIe reset fixed
  • SNES-Max card support

Ample-MAME changes of note

The Apple IIgs driver now supports the host.fst wdm protocol. (A disk image of the driver and fst are located in the Ample.app/SharedSupport/ directory). The share directory (look in the Paths tab of Ample) is treated as a networked MFS server. There are some configuration settings available in UI Mode (delete/fn-delete), press tab, and select “Machine Configuration”. CR/LF Translation will automatically convert CR/LF in text (TXT or SRC) files. Merlin Translation will automatically handle CR/LF and high-ASCII conversion for text (TXT) files that end in “.S”.
