Apple Pugetsound Program Library Exchange (A.P.P.L.E.) has released a new manual for the Apple II programming language Blankenship BASIC by John Blankenship. Beyond improved readability from modern typesetting, this 80 page manual makes using, understanding, and expanding the programming language easy. John assisted us with this release, and he is eager to see how people expand their programs.

Blankenship BASIC, last released 1987, expands the power of Applesoft BASIC by vastly expanding available commands and capabilities for Apple II programmers of all levels. Programs are written with a sophisticated line editor and complete compiler.

Table of Contents.

Learn how to save time and money by using your Apple II computer to control your home: the security, lights, temperature, telephone, and much more.

With John Blankenship’s system of software and hardware, your house can accept verbal commands and respond with its own voice. It does not need human instruction and performs many useful tasks on its own. Once you get used to an intelligent house, you will wonder how you ever got along without one.

Even though devices featured in The Apple House can be purchased, the author shows how you can save money by building some from scratch. He also points out that you can substitute equipment you already own because of the system’s modularity.

Although written with an Apple II computer in mind, the principles discussed can easily be transferred to other computer systems.

UPDATE: ALL COPIES HAVE SOLD

John Blankenship, the author of Blankenship BASIC, RobotBASIC and a number of books has made a limited number of original copies (NEW) of his book, The Apple House, available. Originally published in 1984 by Prentice-Hall, this book explains how to make your house completely computerized with the Apple II computer.

Imagine the convenience of having your “house” keep track of how many people are in each room and to turn off all the unnecessary lights. It does not take long till you take for granted that the lights should come on automatically when a room is entered.

Sometimes, of course, you will desire to take personal control and override such automation. Fantasize for a moment about the ability to just talk to your house to have your wishes carried out. And when you talk to the house, it will answer back-in its own voice.

I’m talking about a home that can also answer the phone, monitor security, and wake you up in the morning. And these are just a few of the capabilities you can expect.

All sales for this book are handled by John Blankenship himself and the books are $35.00 for paperback versions of the book and $50 for Hardbacks. These are the last of the originals so, once they are gone,….
