Apple announces iPhone 4S

This morning, Apple introduced the iPhone 4S.  While much of the media had been expecting the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S was introduced including such capabilities as 8 Megapixel Camera, 1080P HD Video and Voice Control.   The Siri application which was introduced a couple of years ago, with Apple, Inc. buying the company last year, is now totally integrated into the iOS and allows the user to control the phone completely hands free.

On a more comical side, many folks are comparing Siri to the Terminator or to Hal or to many other science fiction voice controlled computers run amuck.  However, the reality is that Siri adds a level of control that up until now has been half-baked at best.  There is even a dictation function in the program which up until now has been best served by Dragon Dictation.

Also in this new offering by Apple, Inc. is a 64gb version of the iPhone.  The pricing structure for the phones was also changed with the base 16gb version of the iPhone 4S costing $199, the 32gb version at $299 and the 64gb model at $399.  However, what was missed in the announcement was that Apple will be selling the iPhone 3gS to users for No Cost!  Also the pricing structure of the iPhone as it stands right now allows Apple to beat most major players in the Android market as well.

While many were disappointed with the fact that the iPhone 5 was not released, this interim model of phone seems to be well adapted to the real world and also allows users to now leave their point and shoot cameras at home.  The new camera is in line with many of the small model cameras on the market and finally brings the iPhone into that fray as well.
