Ample version 0.259 Released

The latest version of the Ample User Interface for MAME has been released. Kelvin Sherlock, curator of the Ample GUI announced the availability of Ample version 0.259 which brings Ample inline with the latest version of MAME.

Ample is an Apple and retro Macintosh specific Graphical User Interface for the MAME emulator allowing users to easily access their disk images and the emulator features while maintaining the high level of emulation provided by the MAME emulator. Some Atari ST interface is also included in the Ample package.

There are several items included in is latest release of Ample include the following:

  • Includes MAME 0.259.
  • Added UI support for the Macintosh Processor Direct Slot.
  • Includes experimental Uthernet II / WIZnet W5100 emulation. Marinetti, IP65, and A2osX have been tested and should work. (This should make its way into MAME someday.)

Ample version 0.259 now requires a minimum of MacOS 10.13 or later. The features of having internet capabilities built into the interface will allow users to use their favorite BBS or terminal software as well within the emulator. As noted in the features, this is an Ample only feature and not a feature of the MAME emulator. This has been on a separate track to this point however, it was decided that this was a feature that needed to be included.

This release has 3 assets included as part of the release:

  • Ample-49.zip
  • Source code (zip)
  • Source code (tar.gz)
