About NPL II
NPL, which stands alternately for Non-Procedural Language and Non-Programmers Language, was created by Stuart Mindlin. The NPL II product was roughly a clone of Focus (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FOCUS), which itself was roughly a clone of RAMIS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAMIS_(software)), which were other non-procedural or Fourth-Generation Languages (4GLs). The idea is English-like syntax for database query, like “PRINT PROJNAME AND PROJCOST BY CUSTNAME SUBTOTAL PROJCOST BY CUSTID”.
