Announcing the Release of Death is a Four-Letter Word for the Apple II

From Randall Frank

Announcing the general release of DIAFLW, an ‘adventure’ game for the Apple II. This is a game we wrote in 1986 and had been talking with SoftDisk magazine about publishing. College intervened and it sat on 5.25 media until 2024 when I found the original source code. It was refactored to cross-build on Windows/Linux and all the source code pushed to github (more details can be found there).

Anyway, one can download the latest .2mg build image from itch.io:https://myleftgoat.itch.io/diaflw and browse (contribute to?) the source code at: https://github.com/randall-frank/DIAFLW There is the game engine itself, 4 different scenarios and a complete set of scenario editors in the build image.

I’m still planning to comment the source code further (there were almost no comments in the original code) and maybe write another scenario if there were interest in it (I’d have to write a Qt scenario editor first). Feel free to leave comments/ideas on the itch or github sites. Hope you enjoy it!
