This page contains some of the original programs from the Big Computer Games book, which is available for sale through the A.P.P.L.E. Book Store. So of the games have been modified to fit other platforms. All of the Apple II disks shown here boot into the particular program straight away in order to provide the best user experience for the particular program. Disks for use on other platforms are denoted as such in their filenames and accompanying text. The text file of each program is also available to allow modification for other platforms.

Monster Combat
Originally written by lee J. Chapel, the version of Monster Combat available below is for the Apple II and was modified by William Bonner. We have also included the original version of the program for those who are interested in the porting it to other platforms. Some of the things that are different from the original listing in the book are as follows:
- The book was set for 80 columns and the text was all broken up. This has been corrected
- added the strength of the monsters in brakets MINOTAUR (10)
- included the legend T=tree I=path O=you. That wasn’t included.

Star Merchant
Written by Lloyd Johnson, Star Merchant is a futuristic trade simulation program. Lloyd wrote the original in the 1980’s and then revisited the program again in 2021 to update it to run on both the NEC PC-8201A as well as the Tandy TRS-80 Model 100. There are a few changes to the original which allow the player to win a bit easier than the original version.
