The Coast show had Chris Langan as a guest, making a huge deal out of his super IQ, which has been measured to be somewhere between 190 and 210, and billing him as the smartest man in America…possibly the world.
I’d never given my IQ much thought. When the RPI Psychology Department gave me an IQ test, they said my IQ was somewhere over 200, beyond where they could measure. So, big deal.
When I read about Mensa, the high IQ society, being formed in England I applied for membership and became American member #15. Then, in 1960, Peter Sturgeon and I started American Mensa, and I was the first secretary.
After reading the hype over Langan’s IQ, which is no higher than mine, could mine also be one of the highest in the world? Well, I’ve certainly done a lot more with mine…being credited with starting the cell phone and personal computer industries.
Gee, if the word gets around, people might pay more attention to the things I’ve researched and written about…like health and cold fusion, the two biggest world-changing breakthroughs on the horizon.
Alas, Mensa, which I envisioned forming brainy groups to help businesses and government agencies solve problems, turned into just another partying organization. I gave up and dropped out.
