You emerge from an underground shelter into the ruins of suburban America, two months after a global nuclear exchange. Your food is gone. Your water is almost gone. A shortwave radio that once carried faint signals from a place called Sanctuary has gone silent. The only certainty is this: if you stay underground, you die.
Atom 20: Wasteland Survivors is a post-apocalyptic interactive fiction game for the Apple II Series computer in which you must explore a devastated landscape, gather supplies, recruit fellow survivors, and lead your group north to Sanctuary — a military settlement that may represent humanity’s last organized hope.
The game is played by typing commands in plain English. You explore rooms, examine objects, solve puzzles, and talk to the people you meet along the way. Your choices matter: supplies are finite, radiation is ever-present, and every survivor you recruit brings unique skills and knowledge that will be needed in the world to come.
