Apple has released an update to iTunes for both Mac and Windows. Version 12.1 includes a new control widget which allows users to control which song is playing within the notification center. It also includes fixes which are meant to improve the ability of iOS devices to sync with the desktop. Apple has posted an update for their iTunes program with the release of version 10.5.2. This update addresses issues with audio distortion with playing and importing of CD’s into the iTunes library. Apple has also improved iTunes Match in this release although the song limit is still 25,000 songs. A few minutes ago I downloaded and tried out a free music player called aTunes. They had a version update to 2.1.0. My impression is it is a good try. There are a couple of features which iTunes doesn’t have but (on the Mac at least) the interface is a little clunky. For the moment Apple doesn’t have much to worry about. However I can see where this project is going so it may be worth considering in the future….
