Over the previous month, we here at A.P.P.L.E. have been remodeling our online store and adding new items to the catalog trying to enhance our content and making unique products available to our members. You will find our new product catalog online at www.callapple.org. All of the products in the catalog which have a Add To Cart button are available now and may be purchased. We have also included some hardware items which are not available anywhere else. This included…
Normally, we would be listing a product item or a press release in this column, however, this month we found an item which deserved a closer inspection. We were looking at G4 notebooks online and naturally ran to Ebay to try to find a good deal on that new titanium G4 notebook. What we found was that the section for Apple G4 Powerbooks was rife with fraud waiting to happen. There were several listings for the 667mhz version of the…
The Catalog Our new catalog should be sent to you around the first of this year. It will contain our latest products for the Apple II, Macintosh, Amigo and MSDOS compatible computers. We also want to remind you of the questionnaire that will be included with the catalog. The purpose of the questionnaire is to determine whether or not we should publish a catalog of products for all the computer systems we support or should we publish separate catalogs for…
in the lead: Communication has changed through the years. The Greeks were known for their runners, who hand delivered important messages. Our native Indians used smoke signals, Africans used drums, and then … Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. Today we use computers and telecommunication packages to send words and graphics across the wires. Although this subject has been covered in Call-A.P.P.L.E. before, things have changed considerably with the passage of time. Cecil Fretwell’s Telecommunications Software Review examines five products:…
The September meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of September instead of the usual third Tuesday. The occasion for this being an appearance “on the scene” by Mr. Randy Wiggington of Apple Computer, Inc. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Randy for his interest in the group and also to Bob Huelsdonk who was instrumental in arranging for Randy to appear. We are not certain just what will go on at the meeting, other than…
And now a word from our sponsor …, you! Look elsewhere in this issue for an as yet untitled letters to the editor feature. We are now actively soliciting your letters and will reproduce in part some of the interesting ones. H you have a question or a problem, and we can’t find the answer in time to print it, we’ll throw it open to our readers for solution. Money talks. Unfortunately, we have a number of words on that…
Apparently, quite a few. You can look forward in the near future to receiving a questionaire in connection with your medical and other applications for Apple II. It would seem that about 10% of our current membership is in the profession, and our objective is to put this large minority in contact with one another. You will also be receiving names and addresses. This also will apply to any other special interest group; we will attempt to put you in…

18 July 1978 Meeting began promptly at 7:16. We again introduced ourselves in Lynnwood OMEGA’s meeting room and found 41 members attending. Tom Geer, who is recovering from a broken leg, sent word that he orders his APPLE hardware directly from APPLE in California and dispelled any contrary rumors that had been circulating. We’ve got about 800 dollars in the treasury and most of it is committed to prior obligations. Ron and Darrell Aldrich have been busy working on a…
Date: 20 June 1978 Time: 7:07 pm The meeting got off to a flying start at 7:07 PM as we introduced ourselves. Our official membership now stands at about 64, with 31 present at this meeting. (And in the two weeks since the meeting, has increased to over 100!) Val reported that the new Call -A. P. P. L. E. “Hot Line” has been installed and that the number is 932 -6588. (Where have we heard that number before?) This…
This issue is devoted to you, and particularly those that live without the Seattle metropolitan area. We have recently received tremendous amounts of mail, largely a result of being mentioned in the club columns of some of the major computer periodicals. Letters have been coming in at the rate of 6-12 per day, and it has certainly solved any problem as to what to do in our spare time.! Those members who live out of state are at a distinct…
We would like to announce the installation of the Apple “Hot Line”, (206) 932-6588. This number is now available so your club can assist you with questions, problems, etc. If we don’t have an answer immediately available, which is quite likely, we will either attempt to find an answer or refer you to another member who can answer. If might be well to mention at the same time (especially for distant members who may tend to overlook time zones), call…
We are pleased to report the formation of an Apple user group south of the border, Apple Portland Program Library Exchange. We attended their organizational meeting in May and spent an enjoyable evening in Portland as the guest of Terry Ashton of Computerland of Portland, who also hosted the initial meeting. We are happy to see that their membership now numbers in the 30’s. Their dues and program rate structure approximate sours, and we anticipate a good deal of interaction…
As usual, we are down to the wire again as it comes time to write this column. We are still receiving applications from all over the country as we pass the 110 mark in membership, and we would also at this time like to extend a special welcome to our first overseas member, Paul Moortgat who lives in Nieuwkerken, Belgium! There are many special features for new members in this issue, and we would like to refer you to the…
The meeting got off to a prompt start at 7:25 (after the secretary arrived, ed.) and the minutes were approved as stated in the May issue of Call-A.P.P.L.E.. There were 24 members present. (Note the continuing increase). Val started the usual introductions around the room….and some names are now becoming familiar. And then it was on to business. Val announced, that a tentative agreement been reached with Softech, Inc., to sell memberships and software to the club on a greatly…
