I just received an Apple //c VGA adapter from Пламен Вайсилов, a prolific Apple II hardware creator. This adapter has a button that lets you switch between video modes: color, green, mono and mono-white. also simulates scanlines in all those modes. Check the video. At the time of this post there has not been pricing and availability announced, keep checking Apple II heaven site. Also important to mention is that this is only NTSC, a PAL version is on the…
After I gave a presentation on Retrobrite at KansasFest, people asked me to write about the process, never wrote about Retrobrite as there are so many articles and videos on the internet but finally found some time to write about it. There are many ways to Retrobrite. I avoid submerging because it’s a waste of peroxide, and maybe toxic for the environment, also don’t wrap in plastic as it allows areas to wrinkle and get more concentrated than others, promoting…
The AppleIIScans.net website has posted the Apple IIc Users Guide. The guide originally published in 1984 by Brady Communications and authored by Gary Phillips and Donald Scellato features the Picaso style Apple //c on the cover of the book. It is available in PDF format from the Apple2Scants.net website at: http://www.apple2scans.net/2015/04/20/apple-iic-user-guide/
For a long time I have been looking for the Apple //c Flat Panel LCD, one of the nicest items on the line. This monitor was short lived as its readability was poor and the item expensive. It was retired early so not many were produced, which is what makes them rare and sought today by collectors. I was lucky enough to be able to secure one, but quickly disappointed when first using it. I am a hands-on person that…

Paul Hagstrom has posted a number of the ST.MAC magazines on his blog. Known as Softtalk Mac officially or Saint Mac unofficially, the magazine was the natural progression for the SoftTalk enterprise which ran from 1980 to 1984. The first issue of ST.MAC was released in February 1984 but was to run only until August of that year due in part to the shut down of the Softtalk enterprise. Now enjoy a bit of that era as we face the…
As we all know, it’s never a dull moment in the world of Apple II. Let’s look around and see what’s happening. We are all still looking forward to Dr. Weyhrich’s Apple II History book. Jim Salmons has announced The Softalk Apple Project, a site dedicated to preserving one of the most iconic (and ironically short-lived) Apple II magazines ever published. Softalk magazine was published in four full volumes between September 1980 and August 1984. In total, over 9,100 information-rich pages chronicle a pivotal period in the history of Apple microcomputing. Currently this on-line archive contains only a brief profile of each issue available to the project. A Kickstarter funding campaign is coming soon.
