Another year is here, Apple has once again shocked the world, Mac World Expo is under threat of no big company participation and we here at A.P.P.L.E. are working on more projects than we know what to do with. What that means for our members is that there will be new hardware available once again after a 19 year hiatus from the hardware realm.
Our engineers have been involved in the A2GS-L01 laptop project for the past two months, and have begun to assemble the project. Parts have been coming in from all over the globe for the project and the design has been changing almost every day until this past month. Now that the design is settled, the real work on the project has begun in earnest.
Another project that is ongoing is the re-release of our talking software. The Talking versions of Lemonade and Eliza which were developed in the mid 1980’s for blind students in Seattle is being re-released. Utilizing SAM to produce the sound, the programs need only a standard Apple II with no special hardware to produce the sounds needed for speech.
Also, this month, we once again have decided to go back to a monthly issue of the magazine due to the fact that the quarterly was a bit out dated by the time we came out with it. We have found that most months there is plenty of information now especially with the iphone / iTouch and iPad being added to the mix. Thus in the future months, you will see a regular monthly issue. This decision was my decision and was made due to the fact that we needed to get information out to our readers in a bit more timely manner.
For those of you who watched the Apple, Inc. announcement on the 27th of January, I am sure you are all anticipating like we are, the release of the iPad. Once it is released and in our hands we will get a good run through of the machine in our magazine for those of you who want to really know what is going on with the machine.
We too are anticipating both the iPad and the A2GS-L01 Laptop which should be equally as game changing. But that is something we will all have to see when it happens.
