The latest version of Kelvin Sherlocks Ample front end for the MAME emulator has been released. Ample version 0.268 includes additional front end support for the Retro Mac Platforms including the Mac IIfx, Quadra 900 and the Quadra 950.
The Ample front end also includes the complete MAME 0.268 emulation system. Some additional changes in the base MAME emulator includes changes to the Apple IIgs driver as specified below:
The Apple IIgs driver now supports host integration with a custom ATINIT file. (A bootable disk image with the ATINIT file is located in the Ample.app/SharedSupport/ directory). The ProDOS MLI is patched to use the share directory (look in the Paths tab of Ample) as a magic disk (similar to AppleTalk). There are some configuration settings available in UI Mode (delete/fn-delete), press tab, and select "Machine Configuration". CR/LF Translation will automatically convert CR/LF in text (TXT or SRC) files. Merlin Translation will automatically handle CR/LF and high-ASCII conversion for text (TXT) files that end in ".S".
Kelvin also advises users to heed the warning that this version may not be 100% stable stating “There are probably some bugs, so take consider yourself a beta tester.”. You can download the latest version of the Ample front end for MAME as well as the source code for Ample from the GitHub page at:
