Apple Releases iPhone OS Update for iOS 5.0.1

Apple has released a minor update to the current iOS 5.0.1 for the iPhone.  The update has the moniker 9A406 making only minor alterations to the current version of iOS.  This version has not been pushed out globally yet and details of the update have been a bit difficult to come by.  However, this release was addressed in the Apple support document and is meant to fix issues with the following items on the iPhone 4S:

  • “Invalid SIM” or “No SIM Card installed” alert appears intermittently.
  • Status bar displays “No Service” or “Searching” in a location with good network coverage.

Issues with the Battery life on the phones apparently is still an issue with many users and it is unknown whether they will be addressed in this update or if Apple, Inc. is waiting to fix that in iOS 5.0.2

So far, the only download we can find that is globally available is at:
