Just a few months ago, in June, Apple announced the latest major version of its operating system for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It finally became available this week, though not all of the new and improved features are being welcomed by all of the new users.
One point causing the most uproar in the online discussions is the completely redesigned Maps application. Since the beginning, the Maps app used Google’s satellite and map data. Now, Apple is using its own data for the service, but unfortunately many users in foreign countries will loose access to maps that only Google had. Quite notably, the Google Street View feature is also no more.
There have also been reports on Twitter that the battery life of iDevices doesn’t seem to be as good as it was before the iOS update. Users are complaining that their iPhones don’t function as long between charges.
Furthermore, a long discussion topic on Apple’s support web site is filled with remarks by various early adopters who are raising problems about WiFi connectivity on certain Apple models in the new iOS 6.
