Open Apple/A2-Central was the newsletter created by former Beagle Bros programmer, Tom Weishaar. Tom was the author of both ProntoDOS as well as Frame-Up and also the Soft-Talk column that became part of the DOSTalk Scrapbook (ISBN:978-0830603152), which was published by Softtalk Books and appeared in the indues of Softtalk magazine during its run. Eventually Open-Apple / A2-Central became Resource Central and was a large part of the 1990s Apple II computing scene.

8/16 Central Newsletter also was taken over by Open Apple / A2-Central and they also handled the fulfillment of the remaining Call-A.P.P.L.E. annual subscriptions when the Renton, WA office was closed down in 1990. Now thanks to a complete system update on the part of A.P.P.L.E., we return the favor provided to us by a friend of the program all those years ago.

With the full permission of the author, Tom Weishaar, we are now able to provide our members and non-members alike the full copies of the newsletter, complete with all of the indexes for each volume. With items provided by Brian Wiser, Mike Maginnis, and a host of other folks, we are able to offer the only known complete collection of the Open-Apple / A2-Central newsletter on the net. The The A2-Central banner was recreated by Gary Graham and Brian Wiser for us and is used with their permission.
And don’t worry about being sad in Saratoga, Bushwhacked in Brisbane, Hoodwinked in Houston, just do what Forlorn in California did and ask the question, “What Happened to Weishaar?” and perhaps you will find the answers to anything that ails you or denies you your Apple II goodness here in.
The nine volumes of Open-Apple are free to download and come complete with their own indices (well…except Volume 9 which never had an index anyways until Flo Chart created a digital version). Thanks to Max Files and Minnie Assembler, you will find all of the programming information that you need. Also, thanks to programmer extraordinaire C. Ray Tuber, who has been commissioned with the App, we will be offering the entire digital database of the indices as well in the coming days.
