CiderPress II V.2.0.0-Dev4 Released:

CiderPress II v2.0.0-dev4 is now available. Salient changes since -dev3

  • StuffIt v1.5 / v5 support (currently read-only). RLE/LZW/Huffman/LZ+Huffman compression (no Arsenic).
  • New “cmd-list” command in the CLI that lets you run a file full of commands, avoiding app startup overhead.
  • The framework-dependent builds are gone; all binaries are now self-contained (i.e. you don’t need to have .NET installed). The .NET code stripper is now enabled and does a pretty good job of keeping the size down, e.g. the self-contained cp2.exe went from 75MB to 15MB.
  • Bonus: the build changes allow ahead-of-time compilation to work. The CLI tool is much smaller and faster (a single 6.5MB EXE file), but building it is kind of a pain. Look for cp2-200d4-aot.zip in the github release if you want a peek.
