Game Circus LLC Releases Game Claw Halloween for iPhone

One of our favorite games of the previous months has come back in a new incarnation.  Game Claw Halloween is a new play on the popular iPhone game Game Claw, but instead of prizes, you collect ghosts and goblins.  With Halloween right around the corner, this is the perfect game to get you Scare on.  The best part of the download is that it is free.  However, like other Game Circus LLS games, there are in-app purchases which allow you…

You can download the game from…

Will Apple re-name Siri for Japan Market?

Notes making the rounds in the blogs today are making light of the fact that Siri, the new iPhone 4S personal assistant’s name is similar sounding to the Japanese word Shiri.  Shiri, or Oshiri in Japanese is rear or bottom and certainly not a word I would believe Apple would want associated with their latest product. A similar incident happened when the iPad was introduced in Japan.  AiPad is an adult diaper brand in Japan and this fact apparently escaped…

Steve Jobs Dead at 56

Apple announced in a memo just a bit ago that former CEO and Apple Chairman of the Board, Steve Jobs, has died of Cancer at age 56. While Apple did not specify a cause of death in their memo,  Jobs was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2004.  He had surgery then, apparently clearing out all of the cancerous cells at the time.  However, he was once again diagnosed with Cancer in 2009 and  had a liver transplant that year.  He…

Apple gives Final Cut Pro users quick start videos

These videos somehow got overlooked by us when we were talking about new software this fall.  The video editing system Final Cut Pro is a highly intricate piece of software that takes a good number hours of usage to master, yet now there is a shortcut of sorts now.  Apple released a number of free videos about using the program this past year and they are available on the Apple website at: http://support.apple.com/videos/#finalcutpro While they are not a full support…

Apple Stock Rebounds after disastrous morning

Apple’s stock went on an almost immediate nose dive this morning immediately following the Keynote speech by Apple, Inc. CEO Tim Cook at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California.   The keynote had been expected to introduce the iPhone 5 and when it became apparent that this was not what was being introduced, Apple’s share price fell as far at 354.24. Apple also did nothing to help this free fall when it seemed to many users in the social media world…

Apple announces iPhone 4S

This morning, Apple introduced the iPhone 4S.  While much of the media had been expecting the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S was introduced including such capabilities as 8 Megapixel Camera, 1080P HD Video and Voice Control.   The Siri application which was introduced a couple of years ago, with Apple, Inc. buying the company last year, is now totally integrated into the iOS and allows the user to control the phone completely hands free. On a more comical side, many folks…

Apple Store now down in anticipation of new products

Apple has shut down their Store (http://store.apple.com) in preparation for the upcoming announcements of new products.  We can only assume that the new product is the iPhone 5 as that is what Apple has told us that today’s event is about.  Any other goodies they decide to add will just be icing on the cake. This shut down has become commonplace with each event Apple has held in the past several years and thus is no real surprise.

iPhone5 Announcement Hours Away

With less than 10 hours to go until the iPhone5 announcement, it is funny to read the hubub on many of the main steam media sites.   It seems that many in the main stream, including the Wall Street Journal want the iPhone 5 announcement to be a failure.   Videos like “Is the iPhone loosing its cool factor” and “Little Buzz Ahead of Apple’s iPhone Event” being the most popular on the site seems that they are pushing that negative agenda….

The Northern Spy

by Rick Sutcliffe Technology News and Views Since 1983 R.I.P. … October 2011       Hewlett Packard appears to have taken comments made here last month seriously enough to take defensive measures. But let’s be realistic. First, changing CEOs at this juncture (nearly 50% share value lost) is like tossing a single sandbag into the raging torrent pouring through a broken dyke. Second, hiring Goldman Sachs Group to plan a takeover prevention strategy is a whistling in the wind….

aTunes – a cross-platform music player

A few minutes ago I downloaded and tried out a free music player called aTunes. They had a version update to 2.1.0. My impression is it is a good try. There are a couple of features which iTunes doesn’t have but (on the Mac at least) the interface is a little clunky. For the moment Apple doesn’t have much to worry about. However I can see where this project is going so it may be worth considering in the future….
