February 1978 Meeting

Date: 21 February 1978

Time: 7pm

Location: Computerland Federal Way


We met at Computerland in Federal Way, and Val Golding called us to order at 7:05 PM.

A motion was approved to call ourselves A P.P.L.E., standing for Apple Pugetsound Program Library Exchange. Val was unanimously elected president and Mike Thyng was elected Secretary. Other duties will be shared between them. Informality was stressed in the meeting, in order to best follow the purposes If the group: to exchange information and programs.

A membership application fee of $2.00 was approved, and an annual rate will be determined at a later date, based on expense experience. Max Cook, owner of Computerland, voluntered to mail out our newsletter at no cost to the group. The meeting was adjourned and the balance of the evening was in fact devoted to answering questions and trading tapes.

Bill Martens

A.P.P.L.E. Chairman of the Board and Club president -- Bill worked for the founder, Val J. Golding and A.P.P.L.E. from 1981 to 1982. In 1999, he began archiving the materials which were distributed and sold by A.P.P.L.E.. That project led to the group that remained of A.P.P.L.E. Bill was involved in the financial industry in Tokyo and has over 20 major office infrastructure projects to his name. In March 2001, he retired to write books and to spend more time pursuing personal interests. As the president of the users group, Bill is in charge of distribution of Call-A.P.P.L.E. magazine as well as the organization of this web site. Bill currently resides in Tokyo, Japan and Shelton, Wa splitting time between the places.
