The Open Apple Podcast, run by Ken Gagne and Mike Maginnis features Bill Martens of A.P.P.L.E. this month. We learned today that one of our directors, Mike Pfaiffer, has passed away. Michael was a programmer, editor of Call-A.P.P.L.E. and The Digital Civilization, as well as A.P.P.L.E. President. He passed away at his home in Manitoba Canada. Mike was a driving force behind the rejuvenation of A.P.P.L.E. in the early 2000’s and will be sorely missed by all of us.
Due to a systems breech in the previous 6 weeks, we have been forced to re-issue all ID’s and passwords to our members. If you are a member of the A.P.P.L.E. Users group and have not received your new ID and password, please let us know. We are currently working to reestablish all of the members systems and integrate them into the main website. We have been upgrading our servers here at A.P.P.L.E. in the hope of providing more resources and a faster server for our users. During our migration yesterday, we hit a snag with services on the primary server being pinged out so we decided to go ahead and do the migration by hand which will take a few days longer than planned. The Apple Archives site has been updated with the January 2012 update. There are now well over 300 links on the website and we have begun to add more links for the February update. The Apple Archives is a Vintage Apple specific link library and contains links to Apple-1, Apple II, Apple ///, Apple IIgs and Mac 68K specific websites. The Seattle Retro-Computing Society or SRCS is a group of Retro Computing entusiasts which meet once a month at The Living Computer Museum in Seattle. The group has decided that due to the fact that the fourth Saturday this month would fall on Christmas Eve, there would be no December meeting. A.P.P.L.E. Founding Member Dave Lingwood passed away this week. Dave was well known for his insightful columns in Call-A.P.P.L.E. Magazine over the years and was one of the first 15 members of the group.
