Gold Master Candidate Releases of Yosemite and XCode Bring Apple Asking for App Submissions

Apple Partially Patches Bash Vulnerability

Apple released a patch for the bash UNIX shell to address two serious security vulnerabilities known as ‘shell shock.’  The updates don’t appear to be in Software Update and can be manually installed for OS 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9. Apple Creates U2 Album Removal Tool

In the aftermath of the outrage over forcing users to download the U2 Album, Songs of Innocence, Apple has relented and created a website tool which allows users to remove the album.  Many users found the album automatically added to their purchases who had absolutely no interest in the album and no way to remove the album from their purchases. IDG Ends Print Publication MacWorld

IDG is shuttering the print section of their MacWorld publication.  While there website will continue to exist and publish information, their print publication will cease to exist. Apple Announces iOS8 Release Date

As part of the iPhone6 announcement, Apple Inc. also announced that iOS8, the next version of their mobile operating system, will be released on September 17th. Apple also announced that they will be continuing support of the older iPad 2 with this release as well as the iPhone 4’s, 5’s and 6’s.

Apple Releases Mac OS X Yosemite DP7

Apple has released  another Developer Preview version of their latest version of Mac OS X 10.10.  As they ramp up for release, there are several items in this preview which reflect the direction Apple is taking with the desktop including  a number of updated icons in both the System Preferences and the Applications / utilities directories. Apple Releases Mac OS 10.9.3

Apple has released a new version of the operating system for Intel based Macs.  Mac OS X 10.9.3 increases apple’s support of 4K devices.  Restoration of the USB syncing of Calendars and Contacts is also included in this update.  Also Apple has attempted to imporve the reliability of connections via VPN that use IPsec. iOS 7.1 released with visual tweaks and CarPlay

Apple has released the first update to iOS 7 since last September to the general public after a long beta test period. This update includes fixes for the TouchID fingerprint system, a fix for the home screen crashing issue, as well as the new feature for automobiles: CarPlay. Apple Releases iOS 7.0.5

Apple has released a minor update to the iOS operating system.  iOS 7.0.5 is intended to primarily provide support for the networks run by China Telecom.  This was necessitated by Apple’s recent agreement with China Telecom to provide the iPhone through them.  The update addresses issues with the iPhone 5c and the iPhone 5S connecting to the network. iOS 7.1 beta 3 seeded to developers with many fixes

MacNN reports that Apple has released a third beta of iOS 7.1 to developers, accounts say. The code was seeded to select testing partners on December 23rd, but at the time, not the general developer community. The beta is said to make a number of adjustments and bugfixes, bringing v7.1 much closer to its finished state. Some fixes deal with listening to audiobooks, creating a new iCloud account during device setup, and errors seen when enabling iCloud Keychain. Read More

Apple is making the push for iOS developers to adopt the iOS interface and standards.
