Ample version 0.278 Released

The Ample graphical interface for MAME emulation has been updated. Ample version 0.278 also known as Ample Release 70 is a MacOS based interface which allows users to easily access and use a number of emulation platforms included in the MAME package.

Ample includes a number of emulated computing platforms including an extensive focus on the Retro Apple II / III series computers and clones including the China Education Computer and the Franklin series computers, Retro Macintosh platforms and the Tandy and Acorn / BBC Micro platforms. Other systems included are the Commodore 64 and the Atari ST. The interface provides an easy to use interface that includes all aspects of the particular computing platform requirements including floppies, ROMs, RAM and peripherals included with the platform.

This latest version of Ample includes the MAME 0.278 core updates recently announced on the MAME Blog including the following new features in the core package:

  • Native WASAPI support on Windows and PipeWire support on Linux.
  • Support for sound input for emulated systems that have microphones or other audio capture hardware.
  • Support for multi-channel input and output.
  • Built-in effects, including a parametric equaliser and dynamic range compressor.
  • Better quality sample rate conversion and mixing, and lower latency.

Ample 0.278 incorporates a number of these features and also now requires a minimum platform of MacOS 14 or newer. You can download the latest version of the Ample interface from the Github page at:
