For those of us who are Apple and Macintosh fans, we are partial to our machines no matter what age they are. We always hate to see people destroy perfectly good machines. I think Luke Miani knows this as a real Macintosh fan as he has managed to turn an old iMac into an M1 Silicon based iMac with just a few turns of the screw.
Having an old iMac and a new M1 Mac Mini, Luke has decided that Apple Inc. and Tim Cook are just taking way too much time and he has created the ultimate Frankenstein of an iMac by removing the internals of the old broken iMac and then stuffing the M1 internals into the shell.
This involved taking out every conceivable piece of the iMac and then finding a display driver card for the iMac display. This then connects to the Mac mini and thus becomes a very nice 27″ display. Of course, this was not good enough for Luke, so he took the guys out of the Mini and then stuck it in the iMac shell and now has an iMac M1.
His rather comedic approach to the whole thing also makes the video well worth watching, especially when he talks about the little idiosyncrasies of the build. And for those die hards who say this is sacrilege, no Macs were harmed in the making of the video.
