Notes making the rounds in the blogs today are making light of the fact that Siri, the new iPhone 4S personal assistant’s name is similar sounding to the Japanese word Shiri. Shiri, or Oshiri in Japanese is rear or bottom and certainly not a word I would believe Apple would want associated with their latest product. Apple announced in a memo just a bit ago that former CEO and Apple Chairman of the Board, Steve Jobs, has died of Cancer at age 56. While Apple did not specify a cause of death in their memo, Jobs was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2004. He had surgery then, apparently clearing out all of the cancerous cells at the time. However, he was once again diagnosed with Cancer in 2009 and had a liver transplant that year. He…
Electronic arts is giving away the game Tiger Woods PGS Tour 12 for the iPhone and iPad. The game which is a whopping 269mb download is an example of what can be accomplished with the graphics on the iPhone. These videos somehow got overlooked by us when we were talking about new software this fall. The video editing system Final Cut Pro is a highly intricate piece of software that takes a good number hours of usage to master, yet now there is a shortcut of sorts now. In what the professors of Stanford University’s Intro to Artificial Intelligence are calling a “Grand Experiment”, they are offering the full CS-221 course online for free, complete with tests, homework and everything else including a final exam. Students who complete the course, which runs from October 10, 2012 to December 18, 2012, will get a certificate of completion. No college credit will be offered to anyone outside the classroom and those who are paying for the course at the university….

Apple’s stock went on an almost immediate nose dive this morning immediately following the Keynote speech by Apple, Inc. CEO Tim Cook at the Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California. The keynote had been expected to introduce the iPhone 5 and when it became apparent that this was not what was being introduced, Apple’s share price fell as far at 354.24. This morning, Apple introduced the iPhone 4S. While much of the media had been expecting the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S was introduced including such capabilities as 8 Megapixel Camera, 1080P HD Video and Voice Control. Apple has shut down their Store (http://store.apple.com) in preparation for the upcoming announcements of new products. We can only assume that the new product is the iPhone 5 as that is what Apple has told us that today’s event is about. Any other goodies they decide to add will just be icing on the cake. This shut down has become commonplace with each event Apple has held in the past several years and thus is no real surprise.
With less than 10 hours to go until the iPhone5 announcement, it is funny to read the hubub on many of the main steam media sites. It seems that many in the main stream, including the Wall Street Journal want the iPhone 5 announcement to be a failure. Videos like “Is the iPhone loosing its cool factor” and “Little Buzz Ahead of Apple’s iPhone Event” being the most popular on the site seems that they are pushing that negative agenda….
