Another Apple-1 Goes On The Auction Block

REuters is reporting that an Aple-1 computer originally owned by Charles Ricketts is going on the auction block at Christies Auction House.  The Apple-1 is fully functional and comes complete with the cancelled check from the purchase in July 1976.  Estimated to go at about 600,000 USD, this particular Apple-1 has been owned by three people including Bruce Waldack and its current owner Luther Roberts. Apple-1 Sells for World Record $905,000 USD at Bonhams

A working Apple-1 computer recently listed by Bonhams Auction House has sold for a world record 905,000 USD.  This particular Apple-1, originally sold by the Byte Shop in Mountain View, Ca., was one of 50 hand built by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs in the famed Apple garage, is one of only 15 known to actually function.   This Apple-1 will reside at it’s new home, The Henry Ford Museum. Bonhams to auction off Fully Functional Apple-1

Auction House Bonhams has another Apple-1 in its possession which will be auctioned off on October 22nd.  While there are approximately 60 of the Steve Wozniak created Apple-1 motherboards, only about a dozen or so have been shown to work.  Previous auctions of  similarly functioning machines have fetched anywhere between 385,000 and 650,000 USD. Sotheby’s Auction House sold an Apple-I Computer this week for the staggering price of $374,500 USD.  The hammer price of this auction more than crushed the previous record of approximately $210,000 USD for an Apple-I. Mike Willegal of Mimeo fame has created an online registry of all known Apple-1 computers. While Apple Computer Inc produced 175 of the units in 1976, very few of the machines have survived the years and the tradein program Apple had when they introduced the Apple ][ computer. New Apple-1 Game, Codebreaker Available

Egan Ford has created a new game for the Apple-1 computer.  The game, Codebreaker, is based upon the old game of Mastermind in which a user tries to break the code in the shortest time possible.  The six digit color coded sequence must be solved in a minimum of moves and time.
