With the Apple-1 computer being in big demand since the death of Steve Jobs, the German auction house Brecker has pulled in a record haul for a working version of the famed computer. Hand built in the garage of Steve Wozniak, the Apple-1 was only produced in a short production of less than 200 units. Of these 200, only 48 are known to exist today and of those, working models are even a rarer item with less than ten units…

Ron Wayne is probably the least well known Apple, Inc. Co-Founder of the three men who created the now behemoth company. He had a 10% stake in the young company at it’s founding, however, he left the company, selling his stake for a total of $2300. The media has reported that he lost potentially billions of dollars in his leaving, however, he does not see it that way. According to Ron, “I didn’t lose out on billions of dollars. That’s…
Mac お宝(otakara) is now saying that there are two events scheduled by Apple. The first event which they were saying was for Apple’s iPad 3 announcement apparently has been pushed back to March. The first event supposedly in February is yet unknown. Mac お宝 is saying that the event would be “a Strange Event”. Speculation by some of the posters on the site and others says that the February event might be scheduled to coincide with Steve Jobs birthday which…
Apple had a slam dunk, in your face type of quarter in quarter 1, 2012. It’s profits were beyond that of any belief. The stock price jumped to over 455 USD a share at one point after profits were announced. The number of iPhone 4S’s sold were more than 4 million units beyond that of even the most optimistic analyst. It was a huge success, but there are cracks in the mirror. Supply is an issue for the iPhones, hard…
Fortune has released a new excerpt from the Inside Apple book written by Adam Lashinsky. The book discusses Apple from the employee and the secrecy and security aspect, goine into detail about how employees are treated, how they are paid, and what the policy at Apple is relating to product releases. The book even goes into the tit-for-tat type fights that erupt between employees and that dressing someone down is acceptable if it is in the interest of making a…
Virgin America has paid tribute to Steve Jobs by including a saying he used at the 2005 Stanford Commencement on its airplane. The expression “Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” is now gracing the nose of the airplane with the tail number N845VA, just below the cockpit window on the left side of the plane. While Steve used the expression in his speech, it comes from the back cover of a 1970’s Whole Earth Catalog when the catalog was ceasing print. Now…
A clip on you tube fromt he Santa Clara Valley Historical Association has a snippet of Steve Jobs talking about what it took for he and Woz to start Apple. The expression that stands out in the clip that is most striking is the bit about “we had literally nothing to lose.” The video is embedded below and the part with Steve Jobs begins at 1:52 int he clip. It is a very telling emotion about how he felt about…
While many people have been patiently waiting for the announcement of a public funeral for Steve Jobs, the likelihood of one being scheduled is looking pretty dim. A report in the wall street journal said that the funeral was being held Friday and was a private affair. Obviously, this was done to prevent such idiocy as the WBC protests or to prevent masses of people from descending upon the funeral procession. However, this also would be befitting the man who…
Apple announced in a memo just a bit ago that former CEO and Apple Chairman of the Board, Steve Jobs, has died of Cancer at age 56. While Apple did not specify a cause of death in their memo, Jobs was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2004. He had surgery then, apparently clearing out all of the cancerous cells at the time. However, he was once again diagnosed with Cancer in 2009 and had a liver transplant that year. He…
With less than 10 hours to go until the iPhone5 announcement, it is funny to read the hubub on many of the main steam media sites. It seems that many in the main stream, including the Wall Street Journal want the iPhone 5 announcement to be a failure. Videos like “Is the iPhone loosing its cool factor” and “Little Buzz Ahead of Apple’s iPhone Event” being the most popular on the site seems that they are pushing that negative agenda….
Steve jobs has announced his retirement from Apple, Inc.. He will remain at the company as the Chairman of the board, however, Tim Cook will take over as the CEO. Although the announcement timing may have come as a surprise to many folks, the succession plan has been questioned for the past several years and thus really is not all that big of surprise. Steve’s Resignation Letter: CUPERTINO, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)— To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:…
By Bill Martens When Steve Wozniak first created his Apple-1 computer, it was all hand wire wrapped and on breadboard. No fancy automated electronic assembly was even thought of. It was purely a labor and work of true love of the art form. These hand built machines were mostly produced in early 1976 with the original production machines being produced in April 1976 by Steve Wozniak (http://www.woz.org) and Steve Jobs. The fact that only 175 of the original Apple-1 production…
Apple introduced its new iPad 2 today at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California by none other than the master presenter himself, Steve Jobs. He mentioned that he could not let this historic announcement go by without showing up at the show, which is interesting because this presentation was a lot less historic than the iPhone coming to Verizon…. in my opinion anyway. Back to the iPad as it were, never owning an iPad myself…
By Bill Martens Apple, Inc. this past month introduced a machine that everyone is talking about in one respect or another. While the coolness factor of the machine has been undeniable from those who have had them in their hands, there has also been a lot of negative comments about the machine. Firstly, the iPad has not even been put on sale yet, however, it has generated more buzz than almost any machine in history outside of the iPhone. This…
